Come on Get Happy

So the book that inspired my happiness project for this year is out on bookshelves now! I already preordered a copy, but since I'm out of town, it's sitting in my neighbor's apartment, who kindly agreed to collect our mail each day. I'm tempted to go buy another one just so I can read it now! But I guess I'll be sensible and wait until I get home.

I already read the Happiness Project blog, but I'm really excited about reading this book, as well. There's something so personal and comfortable about reading a book. I can't wait to fold down the corners of pages I really like, or to see the book stacked among my favorite books on my shelf once I'm done.

I always feel like when people come into my home and see my book shelf with my most beloved books, they get a glimpse into what I am about. Along with my "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child," my "How to Talk so Kids will Listen and Listen so Kids will Talk," my "Collected works of Flannery O'Connor," my "Creative Counterpart," and my "Super Baby Food" books, I think that "The Happiness Project" will be one of those books I'll continually learn from and that I'll enjoy reading again and again. If any of you read it, let me know what you think, too!

What books do you keep on your shelf even when you've read them many times?

  2. Oh, Dianne, you'll love it! I thought of you a lot while I was reading it, actually. There's a chapter about how getting organized makes you happier, and it made me remember your clutter therapy training session!

  3. Wait, don't you mean MY collected stories of Flannery O'Connor? ;-) Apart from crying when you made me hold baby Flannery, thinking I might have to kill a few "unsolicited advice" givers on your behalf, and praising all things Holy that I was finally able to see my bestie home after all of that hospital horror - well, aside from those things, I remember quite clearly robi pulling the O'Connor book off the shelf and pointing out that I was "to blame" for Flannery's name as it was originally my book. I'm not sure that he meant "blame," but the tone seemed to imply it. ;-)

I've long since replaced the book. I just want credit or blame, whichever is due. :-) If anything, I should get you a clean copy. I feel certain there's smeared erasable blue ink on lots of the pages. I also might have your copy of Sonnets from the Portuguese. I'm not sure...

  4. Er, um, ahem, yeah, I admit it, they're actually YOUR collected works of Flannery O'Connor. Too funny! I'm glad you've replaced the book! I love that it has blue erasable ink smears in it...reminds me of you! And please keep my sonnets...it will ease my guilt! :)

  5. I LOVE the book superfoods for children! We use it a lot and we don't have kids - it's just got so many really healthy and tasty and easy to make recipes.

  6. Lisa - Yeah, the easy and healthy part are the most important to me, but it's such a plus that a lot of the recipes are also tasty! One of my favorites is tofu-sweet-potato pudding. Quick and easy to make, and it even has protien! MMM.
