Get Enough Sleep


I haven't been getting enough sleep lately. Like, pretty much for the last few weeks. So it's little wonder I'm feeling kind of sick today.

I'm taking my vitamins, taking EmergenC, eating extra garlic, and I just bought zinc lozenges today. Fingers crossed that I can ward off a big illness, because I really want to go camping as planned this weekend!

I'm also heading to bed by 8 today. I know, 8 is kind of ridiculous! But hopefully a long night's sleep will boost my immune response. Sounds plausible, right? Or even if that doesn't happen, at least extra sleep will improve my mood. When I get good sleep, I'm less easily frustrated; I'm more patient; I'm generally more lighthearted and silly. It definitely affects my happiness level.

So now, I'm off to get ready for bed. My amazing husband is taking the reigns for the evening so I can rest. He's such a lifesaver.



How do you get yourself to bed at a reasonable hour? Are there any other night owls like me who have to get up super early every day? And if so, how do you squelch your night owl tendencies?

Get Enough Sleep


The past few nights, I've gotten pretty much no sleep. This makes for a very non happy mama. I just can't function on 4 hours of sleep anymore. Maybe I'm getting old.

Not maybe. Yes, I'm getting old.

And now, the old lady is going to bed at 9 p.m. Fingers crossed for actual sleep tonight! (A.k.a. no croupy coughing fits for Flanna!)






How much sleep per night do you usually get? Do you notice the effect sleep has on your mood and general happiness level?

By the way, this photo is a rare specimen of my child actually sleeping. I couldn't believe we actually had pics of her asleep, because she was so hard to get to sleep that I was very protective of that time and generally wouldn't dare to even have a click of a camera in case it might wake her up! :)

Get Your Sleep On


I don't think I've mentioned yet that sleeping is my hobby. It's one of my all time favorite things to do. And I also love reading about sleep. It's SO interesting! But the bad thing about reading about sleep, is that I start being convinced that I really really need to get to sleep, right then. So it generally takes me forever to finish sleep books. It's sort of hilarious, in a sad I'll-probably-never-learn-as-much-about-sleep-as-I'd-really-like-to kind of way.

Anyway, I just read an article in the Carolina Parent magazine about the "New Epidemic of Sleep Deprived Kids" in America.

Yikes! An epidemic!

So, I've decided to do my part by heading to bed. ASAP.
